On 12th December 2024, Vicki from our Engagement Team went to visit Jade at the Nail Quinn Children’s Centre to present her with one of our Star Awards. Jade was nominated by a parent of one of her patients who said:

"When we were informed that our youngest daughter has Type 1 diabetes, a condition that will impact all of our lives forever, it felt truly overwhelming and frightening for us as a family. We were introduced to her named nurse Jade. Little did we know at that point, how invaluable her support would be. Jade has been absolutely amazing and has supported me and my daughter every step of the way.

6 months in, my daughter and the whole family are now so much more at ease with the adjustments we’ve had to make to monitor her diabetes and ensure her safety. Jade is so lovely; she goes above and beyond. Her care, support and kindness has been constant, making sure my daughter always has everything she needs.

We will be forever grateful for Jade’s support and we would love for her to be recognised as an absolute star. Because that’s what she is to us! Thank you Jade, I’m sure there are many families who feel the same as us and lives you’ve touched forever xx"

After receiving the award Jade said:

“I was completely overwhelmed and so so grateful. It is an absolute pleasure to be given the opportunity to work alongside amazing families. I can't begin to say how much it has meant to hear that I have made a difference to the family following on from this life changing diagnosis, and to take the time to put me forward for this award means the absolute world to me”.

Well done Jade, from everyone at Healthwatch Sunderland, and congratulations on your award.
