On 25th September 2024, Vicki and Natalie from our Engagement Team shared a wonderful experience presenting Deeanna Bone from the Learning Disability Unit at Monkwearmouth Hospital one of our Star Awards.
Deeanna was nominated by a parent of one of her patients who said:
“Deeanna has been fantastic at the help, support and guidance towards my son and myself.
She has gone over and above to make sure our needs are met.”
After receiving the award Deeanna said:
“I am incredibly grateful and humbled to have been presented with this award by one of our service users family members. I found it hard to find the words to express what this award meant to me so I settled with amazing. I am genuinely touched that a carer has taken time out of their already busy life to recognise and be thankful for the work we have done with their son. I could not have done it without the expertise and support around me from my incredible team and I feel it is truly an honour to be part of a team that has been able to change the service users life to what it is today. Receiving the award is something that will stay with me forever and will help keep that fire of passion I have for my service users lit for the rest of my career.”
Well done Deeanna, from everyone at Healthwatch Sunderland, and congratulations on your award.
