On Friday, 17th January 2025, Vicki from our Engagement Team had the absolute pleasure of presenting
Clare Wensley from the North East Ambulance Service, one of our Star Awards.
Clare was nominated by a patient who used the North East Ambulance Service, they said:
“They go the extra mile. I recently had blood tests and unknown to me one of the results suggested I might have blood clots on my lungs. The results arrived after surgery hours so were handed to NHS 111. They tried to reach me but I had gone to bed so they put a call out to the 999 service who came and knocked on my door. After failing to wake me they organised the fire service to come and make entry…fortunately, it wasn’t necessary, the combination of phone calls and knocking finally worked and I was tested and checked. Well done for the thorough and persistent organisation.”
After receiving the award Clare said:
“Thanks you very much for my star award, it was a lovely surprise and feels nice to be appreciated and recognised for all your hard work. Thanks again!”
