The group carried out some research into how cancer affects young people and discovered that although high numbers of young people aren’t directly affected by cancer, they still feel the effects of it via a friend or family member who may have received a cancer diagnosis.
Therefore, the group decided to speak to several professionals about what support is available to young people who may be affected by cancer as a result of a family/friend receiving that diagnosis and were given some useful information.
This information was then shared via our social media and added to our own health and wellbeing directory so young people have an increased awareness of who they could turn to if they need some additional support.
In addition to this many of young people also wished to learn more about cancer and booked themselves onto a training course ran by Sunderland People First.
All those in attendance had a great learning experience and thoroughly enjoyed the session.
